Dump and Chase Nashville Assassins Next Generation Book 1 edition by Toni Aleo Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • Dump & Chase did not disappoint. I had been waiting on the children to start growing up. I knew Shelli Adler has loved Aiden Brooks from the time she was 11 years old but him being 6/7 years older didn’t think the same way. She first caught his eye about 16 years old and he knew that she was still too young to make any moves. When they did meet up again Aiden didn’t recognize her but she knew who he was. Let the story begin.

Aiden had a fear of totally falling in love afraid he would be heart broken like his mom suffered when he was little and it wasn’t until his father Lucas Brooks came back in the picture his world felt right. And he watched his parents love blossom but never forgetting his mother’s tears throughout the years.

Shelli having always loved Aiden never wavered in her feelings. They got together but he was having issues with love he wasn’t sure if what he was feeling was love or not. They did get it worked out and Ms Aleo did a wonderful job writing their story. It kept my attention from beginning to end and had me cheering for them through the whole book.

I highly recommend this book you won’t be disappointed but you don’t have to read the Assassins series but it totally helps to understand some of the conversations the parents had with them.
The book of Aiden and Shelli did not disappoint. The Next Generation is well worth the read.
  • For those of us who have been reading Toni Aleo's Assassins series from the beginning, this is a book that you are going to instantly love and for those who might be picking her book up for the first time, you'll get to know some of Toni's most loved characters in the Adler and Brooks families.

Dump and Chase is the story of Shea and Elli Adler's oldest daughter, Shelli, and Lucas and Fallon Brooks' eldest son, Aiden. Shelli has been crushing on Aiden since she was eleven years old and as she's gotten older her feelings haven't waned in the least. The only problem is Aiden didn't pay her any mind back in the day. She wanted him to really see her and he never did. Now though, it may be a very different story after they meet up at a party in New York and hook up. The only thing is once again he doesn't really see her. He doesn't even recognize her.

Shelli has decided she's ready to leave Broadway and so she's made the decision to head back home to Nashville and after the party she's even happier to be heading that way. As irony would have it, Aiden has been traded to his hometown hockey team, the Assassins, which has always been his dream and now it's coming true.

With the two of them back in the same town, it's inevitable their paths are going to cross again and as they are around one another more and more, you can see that there is definitely a connection between them. With many ups and downs, misunderstandings and some unwanted, and unsolicited advice from their families, these two attempt to figure out if there is something between them. With sparks flying it's hard to believe there isn't!

I absolutely loved this book and all of the people in it. It was great to see our favorites from the original Assassins series and Shelli has grown up to be a strong, fierce woman and Aiden has become the hockey player he wanted to be and he's working on becoming the man he wants to be. I'm excited to see where this next generation takes us in this series!
  • “I’m never sleeping with anyone else unless I see their ID.” – Aiden Brooks

Shelli Adler has Been in love with Aiden Brooks since she was a little girl, however with their age difference, she didn’t think Aiden would ever reciprocate that love. On Shelli’s last night in New York, Aiden finally gives her the time of day, the only problem is, he doesn’t actually know who she is. As luck would have it, the two are both headed back to Nashville since Aiden was traded to the Nashville Assassins, the team he has dreamed of playing for all of his life. When Aiden realizes that Shelli was the girl from New York the drama hits the fan. As the two try and navigate their way through this budding relationship, they worry about what their families will think. All bets are off when their parents find out, but the question still remains, can Aiden be who Shelli needs and let go of insecurities, or will he lose her forever?

First and foremost, I have been impatiently waiting for Shelli and Aiden for many years. Pretty much since Shelli was writing Shelli Brooks in her notebooks. That’s how long I’ve been waiting. With much anticipation, I stopped in the middle of the book I was reading as soon as this ARC dropped on my kindle. And I’ll be honest with you, I was scared to read this book. I was scared that I had built the love story between these two up in my head, and therefore how could it ever live up to my expectations. I don’t even know why I thought that. Toni delivered, what I feel, is one of her best books to date. The chemistry between Aiden and Shelli jumped off the pages and left me turning the pages begging for more. I will also say, that Shea and Lucas jumped up the ladder in my favorites because of this book as well. The secondary characters played such an integral part of this book, and I was super excited that we got to catch up with everybody in the Adler and Brooks clans.
