Broken Doll Audible Audio Edition Burl Barer Kevin Stillwell ListenUp Audiobooks Books Reviews

  • This book started out okay. There was way too much legal talk. I am interested in the story but not in becoming a lawyer. I think the author was trying to drag the book out. This is one book I am sorry I read and if I didn't force myself to finish every book I start I probably wouldn't have finished it
  • This killer had fetal alcohol spectrum and was an alcoholic and drug abuser.

He had previously been convicted of molesting a neighbor's 4-year-old.

Here, he kidnapped, raped and killed a neighbor's girl. His defense lawyers fought hard for him.
  • This book gives details of the tragic rape and murder of seven year old, Roxanne Doll in Everett, Washington in 1995 as well as the trial and conviction of her killer, Richard M. Clark. It is a cautionary tale about choosing your friends well as Richard Clark was considered a friend of Roxanne's family. I highly recommend it to other true crime readers.
  • I reread this book after he rewrote the end. It was better than the first. As Roxanne's aunt I was glad to see she was respectfully treated. I miss her still. Also not included in the book is that in 2006 Richard Clark confessed in open court what he had done and why in exchange for life without the possibility of parole.
  • Very well researched for sure. But the book overextended itself with mundane details and backstory, that I as the reader did not need to know. I understand it's part of the style of writing true crime, as it gives you extra pages to read. But the author takes this writer's privilege to the max and loses the reader.
  • Low life monster preys on children. Writer does a fair job telling this tale. Hard to believe how this sad excuse for a human being was not put out of his misery before he could harm innocent victims. Book was affordable and delivered its intended purpose. 3 Stars.
  • REALLY A GOOD BOOK AND TRUE. I've been to Everett, WA and can see the scenes in my mind. I wondered if the father was suspected until they found the DNA of the guy who murdered the little girl. The title is so appropriate w/her last name being, "DOLL".
  • This book is way to long. A lot of this book is very boring. Could have been half the number of pages.
