The Paranoid Pocket Guide to Mental Disorders You Can Just Feel Coming On Dennis DiClaudio 9780760366301 Books Reviews

  • What a hysterical read; though, you may wish to (re)define "hysteria" after digesting Mr. DiClaudio's delightful descriptives! We are all neurotic. His breakdown (no pun intended) of forms serves to identify which label to claim! Such sick fun to be had in any chapter!
  • DeClaudio has written several "Guide Books" that are excellent to leave laying around for guests to pick up, turn to any page and get a smile. He has basically taken a subject and then bull dog through the topics that are most apt to make the reader squirm (and laugh out loud). Lots of fun. I'm using the same review of all books in the series. No matter which ones you choose you'll enjoy equally.....bg
  • I liked reading this book. It was as informative as it was entertaining. Unfortunately, after just one read, the cover fell off, and the pages became loose at the binding. The book was constructed very poorly. I suppose for a gag gift it might serve the purpose, but I couldn't reccommend this product to anyone that actually wants to read the book more than once.
  • I originally found this book in a used bookstore and it had me in stitches with it's clever layout and hilarious phrasing. My psych major friend guilted me into giving it to her during a particularly stressful midterm session in which I made the mistake of lending it to her to laugh her way through psychological disorders. Now I bought one of for my high school age niece who was toiling her way through ap psych test prep. She loves it and we had a good laughing session over some of my favorites...but I have to admit to feeling bad over the connection between humor and mental health issues....let me be clear they are not making fun of people with these disorders so much as describing the disorders in a hilarious way. In the end I choose to love it and laugh...

    Enjoy!
  • Very funny! Gave it as a gift to someone studying to be a therapist. It was very convincing she found herself having to look up some conditions to find out if there was any basis to them.
  • Hilarious
  • This is a great little gift (going away, thank you, birthday) for people who work in mental health. They really get a kick out of it.
  • Since she has read it, no one has seen her. I am going to take that to mean that she probably developed every condition mentioned in the book, which indicates it was decently and convincingly written. Give it a try, but have your therapist in speed dial.
